This post will consist of my first impressions, but I want to do some long term testing especially for the third point, and follow up with my findings. The reasons I was excited to check out P'KUP include the following:

  • Cards can be a pain in the ass to pick up on a good day.

  • My main card game right now is Summoner Wars, I'll include a photo below. The cards are placed so close together that it's incredibly hard to pick them up without disrupting the rest of the cards on the board.

  • Arthritis.

and I have high hopes.

Before I give my initial thoughts, let's unbox it!

First things first, I have to say that I love the packaging. Simple, cardboard, and I'm a sucker for a repeated pattern.

There ain't a lot to it, but I think simplicity is great. The tube that it sits in feels quality enough to be used as storage long term and doesn't take any effort to open.

The P'KUP itself feels really nice and light in the hand and look forward to using it long term. At the top of this post I mentioned only 3 reasons that I wanted to give P'KUP a try, but there are a few more that I'll mention here.

The flavor of arthritis that I have is called 'Psoriatic Arthritis' and is most often accompanied by Psoriasis, hence the name. 😜 In addition to VARIOUS flavors of eczema, my hands are often get dry, cracked, etc.. due to the eczema/psoriasis combo. So, sometimes moving my hands/fingers in any amount can cause discomfort and skin splitting. I'm hoping P'KUP will really shine for me during those times.

Since my hands are often so dry feeling, the normal oils from my hands that get onto the sleeves can often be a sensory nightmare. I'll probably carry a second around to game nights because it's going to be a lot easier to clean pizza grease off of a P'KUP than it is off of my card sleeves. You know? after someone grabs your cards without asking? 😀 ~ If you know, you know.

As shown above it does what it promises to do. I've only had a chance to test it a little bit but here are some thoughts:

  • As they suggest, it does work best on a neoprene mat. When trying it on the surface of my desk, it did get stuck.

  • You most certainly can pick up an entire deck of cards but my mileage varied. I'm not sure how often I would want to do this though?

  • I was able to pick up multiple cards in a row without issue.

  • Despite seeing information that they don't hold cards at an angle very well mine were holding just fine.

I still need to test them with sleeved cards, but I'm not too worried as I have seen other people do that just fine. I can definitely tell that I'm going to enjoy using it in all my games.

Expect a follow up post in the future, either when I have an intense arthritis flare up, or the eczema/psoriasis combo. Or maybe before that if I find another reason to gab about it.
